Special Message from the Chairman of the Board of Thrive

Dear Bridget & Thrive team:

Congratulations to all of you on your tremendous accomplishments as part of Thrive (including the recent May ’24 8-PEAT championship on STL Give Day!).

Of course a special recognition goes to Bridget, who 15 years ago packed up her home and her daughter to leave Chicago (at significant personal risk) – moving to St. Louis to take over a PRC on the verge of bankruptcy. Very few people would take that kind of risk, especially being a single parent knowing there was no guaranteed paycheck waiting at the other end - and a young daughter just entering her school years.

Back in early 2009, I had just relocated from St. Louis to Seattle to finish out my career with Boeing; returning in late 2019. I had never heard of Thrive until early 2020, missing out on so many of the big milestone achievements prior to joining the board in August of that year. 

So what have many of us witnessed over the past 15 years with Bridget at the helm of Thrive Express Women’s Healthcare? Certainly lots of challenges and changes, and more risk taking (like her famous 2010 declaration that Missouri would be the 1^st abortion-free state!). Taking Planned Parenthood head-on, including creating the 1^st mobile unit that was stationed outside of the PP’s HQ building in St. Louis, taking pregnant mothers directly from their clinic and into a fabulous Thrive mobile clinic! Facing down the Satanic Temple in Missouri in 2017-18, who were specifically threatening the lives of Bridget and her daughter (and Thrive in general). Following a decade of declining abortions in Missouri because of these efforts, as well as the 1^st class “Best Choice” abstinence training in classrooms throughout St. Louis & St. Charles counties, in 2019 - three years before the U.S. Supreme Court Dobb’s decision - thanks to the efforts of Bridget & Thrive and passage in the Missouri State legislature of the "Missouri Stands with the Unborn" act, abortion was effectively eliminated in the state of Missouri!

Since then, under the on-going strategic vision and leadership of Bridget, Thrive introduced their industry-leading new telehealth service (Thrive+) in July 2022 This new capability enables women to find Thrive on their smartphones, and immediately have a live-nurse on the other end to encourage these women in crisis to go into a nearby PRC clinic for in-person counseling (not to mention a great opportunity for these women to hear the Word of God, some for the very first time). The continued evolution of Thrive’s market-leading advertising that is most effective in reaching today’s women is amazingly impressive.

Just as impressive is Bridget’s vision back in early 2020 to expand Thrive’s mission to the biological fathers of these babies, under the Pi Delta Epsilon men’s fraternity that was launched around 2022 and has come along-side more than 70 men – bringing to them not only the Word of God but also encouragement to be the father’s that God expects them to be for their children (and their mother’s).

It's been a blessing for me, over the past almost 4 years, to witness these amazing accomplishments from Bridget & her team against a backdrop of solid financial accountability and fiscal efficiency. The challenges never end, the on-going need for improvements never end, and the attacks from Satan never end (true for anyone doing God’s work); but the energy & creativity & resolve of Bridget and her team to take on these challenges directly is very inspiring!
